Your Private Pilot License (PPL) allows you to fly a single-engine plane day or night, in good weather, for pleasure and personal purposes. You can carry passengers, and fly anywhere in the U.S. below 18,000 feet. The license itself never expires.

In as little as 21 days from zero-time to private pilot with the written knowledge test complete. In this accelerated program training would be everyday for 2-3 hours a lesson. The average time for completion is 4-6 months, flying 2-3 times a week. You must complete a minimum of 40 hours of flight instruction (national average is close to 70 hours) and study to pass the written and oral exams (typically 40 hours of study material). Sawyer Flight Academy averages 55-60 hours through the use of program materials designed to keep training focused, on time, and on budget. Cost of training can be reduced by training in a condensed manner as there is less time spent progressing and more time progressing.
The cost varies by location in the United States, frequency of training, and the type of aircraft being used for training, but the average cost is around $15,000 dollars.
